Funerals
Funerals go are an important part of this book because of the theme of heaven. To go to heaven, one must die, and usually after a person dies they have a funeral. Funerals, it is explained in the book, have a way of drawing people to them because people feel in their hearts that death is only a new beginning, and they are in a way sending that person off. The new beginning of course is heaven where that person embarks on their journey to understand their life. All the funerals described in the book are not gone into with great detail but Eddie is usually bored with the ceremony showing the fruitlessness of feeling sad as is custom for a person who is in a better place than everyone else is.
